HHS Secretary Resigns Amidst Plane Scandal

WASHINGTON – The Secretary of Health and Human Services Tom Price resigned Friday while under scrutiny for chartering private flights with taxpayer money. The scandal upset President Donald Trump because it distracted from his proposed tax overhaul efforts and went against his campaign promise to “drain the swamp” of federal corruption. Price is the most recent of the many changes of staff that have beset the White House in the past eight months. Price has promised to repay a portion of the estimated $400,000 he spent on the charter planes.

Google Cooperating with Russian Election Probe

MENLO PARK, Calif. – Google released a statement Friday evening stating it will search its databases for information concerning potential Russian influence in the 2016 election, in compliance with a congressional probe. Google, along with fellow tech giants Facebook and Twitter, has been invited to public hearings in the coming months before the House and Senate intelligence committees, which hope to identify how Russia used social media to influence popular opinion.  Facebook and Twitter have already released preliminary statistics indicating Russian-operated accounts spent around $100,000 dollars on ads focusing on controversial social and political issues, as well as disseminating "fake news."
