Loyola Client Project

The following is a facsimile of a webpage produced for Loyola University Maryland's writing department during the Fall 2017 semester as part of my WR305 course.

A computer lab, with iMacs lining the walls, and a set of tables in the center of the room. Light streams in from the back windows.

The computer lab in Maryland Hall 240 is designed for the needs of writing students. 20 Macs, outfitted with Adobe Creative Suite and Final Cut Pro, provide students with access to this powerful software during class. The room’s central tables are not only modular, but also compliant with the Americans with Disabilities Act. The classroom is open to the student body and is frequently used by the writing department for classes, such as:

·       WR100 Effective Writing

·       WR 302 Wet Ink: Writing and Editing for Publication

·       WR305 Website Design & Creation

·       WR325 Professional Writing

·       WR326 Technical Writing

While the room had been a computer lab for many years, the traditional lab layout, with all computers facing the front, conflicted with the collaborative, one-on-one learning style of most Loyola writing classes. Therefore, a coalition of writing department faculty proposed that the lab be renovated to fit modern best teaching practices and provide a computer lab for the department. After a thorough lab design discussion, the school approved the proposal in spring 2014, and by fall 2015, the new and improved lab was ready for use.
